Adam Levine Talks About Playing a "Douchebag" in Film Debut, Is Excited About Wedding (Will it Rain?)-- Watch!

Adam Levine may be trying to shed his "douchebag"
label but he plays a "lost," "redeemable" one, alongside
Keira Knightley, in the musical film Begin Again, which
marks his big-screen debut.
The movie hit theaters on Friday, June 27. The 35-year-
old Maroon 5 singer and veteran coach of NBC's The
Voice, who last showcased his acting skills on the show
American Horror Story in 2012, sports a dark beard as
Dave, a musician and ex-boyfriend of Knightley's
character, Gretta (watch the trailer).
In an interview with E! News, the 29-year-old British
actress, sitting beside Levine, offered her co-star
encouraging words about his performance.
"It was actually one of the most difficult things to sort
of calibrate in the film, was how douchey that
character should be ... It was actually the trickiest
thing, I think," Knightley said, smiling at him. "So it's,
again, very impressive. For your first film, it was a very
tricky one to balance."
Levine had penned the headline of the recent GQ
magazine article "Adam Levine Doesn't Care If You Like
Him (But He'd Really Prefer That You Did)," in which he
discussed being labeled a douchebag in the press.
On July 19, Levine is set to wed 25-year-old Behati
Prinsloo, his third Victoria's Secret model girlfriend in
five years, in Los Cabos, Mexico, which gets hurricanes
during the summer.
When asked if he had any nerves regarding his
wedding, he joked, "Dun dun dun dun! Dun dun
dun ... Storm Watch!"
Watch the interview above for more information about
Levine's character in Begin Again (and to find out just
how excited he is about his upcoming nuptials).
