Ask a Stylist: How to Rock Denim on Denim Like Olivia Palermo

Olivia Palermo has built an entire empire on her insane
sense of style, and it's safe to say she's a fashion icon.
So of course the 28-year-old did not disappoint when
she attended the Janelle Monae concert earlier this
week. Palermo went with a more casual look and her
style was on point, as always.
Olivia rocked the denim on denim trend here with
perfection. She paired a white tuxedo-style jacket by
Whistles for $372 with a denim button down and
distressed AG Jeans for $215. A gold strappy sandal by
Aquazzura for $745, and an insanely gorgeous off the
runway yellow embellished clutch by Christian Dior
completed the look. Crazy perfect!
Now, denim on denim can be downright terrifying, I
get it. Here's how to pull it off like Olivia.
First, don't try to be matchy-matchy; different shades
of denim are best! Also, break up the denim with a
statement piece. Either a pop of color on the shoes,
bag or a great layered jacket as Olivia did here, and you
will be all good!
Now my favorite part, let's recreate this on the cheap!
This tuxedo style jacket by Wyatt courtesy BlueFly is an
amazing alternative, and for $41 the price can't be
beat! I love this denim shirt from Mango for $38
because it has that distressed vibe.
As for the jeans I am making an exception. These AG
jeans that Olivia is wearing are reee-diculous. I own
them and every client of mine that purchases them
falls in love and won't take them off; they are that
incredible. So yes, spend the extra money here and get
these AG Jeans, trust me, you will thank me later.
On to accessories. These $130 gold Pelle Moda shoes
from Nordstrom are a great alternative and still have
that strappy gladiator feel to them. Add in this
stunning embellished yellow clutch for $108, a fraction
of the price of Olivia's Christian Dior version, and there
you have it!
