Prince Carl Philip of Sweden just revealed that he is
engaged to longtime love Sofia Hellqvist.
The soon-to-be husband and wife also posed for royal
engagement photos (and had their first official public
kiss!) in the garden of Drottningholm Palace earlier
today.
The 35-year-old told reporters, "I have the incredible
honor of being engaged to this fantastic girl. Sofia has
today said yes to the question to spend the rest of her
life together with me. Today is a very happy day for
Sofia and I."
The brunette beauty added, "Carl Philip is the most
humble person I have ever met, which is what made
me fall for him in the beginning. He has one of the
most beautiful hearts, he is very warm."
Sofia looked stunning in a bright red cocktail dress,
while her fiancé looked equally as sharp in a perfectly
fitted navy suit.
The happy couple also shared that they are already
getting a start on wedding planning, and are looking to
tie the knot during the summer of 2015.
And it's not like things happened on a whim with these
two...
The King of Sweden gave consent to his son after
receiving approval of the marriage from the Swedish
government, which is in accordance with procedures
specifically outlined in the Swedish Constitution. Such
red tape!
Sofia, who is a former model, began dating the prince
back in 2010 after having met him a year prior.
The two have been living together for quite a while now
in the Stockholm suburb of Djurgården.
