London's
Earls Court played host to the inaugural awards last night, which saw
performances from the likes of One Direction, Ellie Goulding and
Coldplay...
Pharrell Williams was the big winner at last night's BBC Music Awards, which celebrated the year's biggest chart toppers.
The
Gust Of Wind hit maker picked up two of the three gongs, the first for
International Artist of the Year, and also the Song of the Year prize
for 'Happy'.
Although
fans weren't pleased when Pharrell appeared via video link to accept
the awards, unable to attend the show due to The Voice filming
commitments in the US.
The
final award, for British Artist of the Year, went to Brit singer Ed
Sheeran who thankfully was there in person to thank fans.
“I
just wanna say a massive thank you to everyone whose bought a record,
bought a ticket, streamed on YouTube, streamed on Spotify,” he stated.
“I don't know if anyone here has, but thank you so much.”
The
night wasn't without it's moments, most notably Zayn Malik's single
strand of hair that was out in full force yet again. Harry your hair was
nice too.
Coldplay
kicked off the show with their Song of the Year nominated track 'Sky
Full Of Stars', followed by performances from the likes of Calvin Harris
who teamed up with Ellie Goudling and John Newman for a remix of their
hit tracks.
